A turnbuckle can be used to secure and tighten a steel wire rope so that the rope can only move in one direction. Additionally, they can be used to fasten a mast to a stay to stabilize the mast and thereby the boat. Unscrew the fork and terminal and tighten them with a nut. Then, mount it in the desired location. Finally, tighten the turnbuckle, and thus the wire rope, by inserting a thin screwdriver or similar through the small hole in the middle and twisting until the wire rope is fully tensioned.
