A terminal is used to secure the end of a steel wire rope so that the rope can only move in one direction. For example, it can be used functionally to fasten a structure, or architecturally for display purposes. Additionally, they can be used to secure a mast in a stay to stabilize the mast and thereby the boat.
The terminals are swaged onto the steel wire rope, meaning the terminal is crimped around the steel wire rope with a tool to secure it to an anchoring point.
Danish company Blue Wave manufactures its products from a single block of stainless steel, meaning there are no welds, and thus their products can withstand extra strain.
