The flags are sewn in 100% woven polyester flag fabric 150 g/m2. With embroidered Y-F in gold. And a Ø 3 mm, 25 cm cord at the top of the flag, used for attachment to the flagpole top.
How is the flag size calculated?
For flagpoles, the front of the flag should be 2/3 of the flagpole's height. The flag size is not subject to fixed rules, but we recommend these sizes.
History of the Yacht Flag
Royal resolution of August 15, 1865. Permission to hoist the pleasure boat flag, consisting of the Danish ensign with the letters YF in gold on the upper field closest to the mast, is granted at the request of the Ministry of Marine Affairs, but only for decked vessels. Applications, accompanied by a 65 öre tax stamp, must be accompanied by the relevant vessel's measurement certificate or nationality and registration certificate. The yacht flag does not give the vessel any advantage whatsoever regarding port and vessel fees. The permission to fly the yacht flag, which is only valid until the vessel changes ownership and must be kept on board and presented upon request by the relevant authorities, is lost when the vessel is not exclusively used as a pleasure boat. In 1957, the obligation to apply for permission to fly the yacht flag ceased.
