The flags are sewn from 100% woven polyester flag fabric 150 g/m2. With embroidered Y-F in gold. And a Ø 3 mm, 25 cm cord at the top of the flag, used for attachment to the flagpole top.
How is the flag size calculated?
For flagpoles, the front of the flag is calculated to be 2/3 of the flagpole's height. The flag size is not subject to fixed rules, but we recommend these sizes.
History of the Yacht Ensign
Royal Resolution of August 15, 1865. Permission to hoist the pleasure craft ensign, consisting of the Danish naval ensign with the letters YF in gold on the upper field closest to the hoist, is granted upon request by the Ministry of Marine, but only for decked vessels. The application, stamped for a tax of 65 öre, must be accompanied by the vessel's measurement certificate or certificate of nationality and registration. The yacht ensign does not provide the vessel with any advantage whatsoever regarding port and vessel fees. The permission to fly the yacht ensign, which is only valid until the vessel changes ownership and which must be kept on board and presented upon request by the relevant authorities, is lost when the vessel is not exclusively used as a pleasure craft. In 1957, the obligation to apply for permission to fly the yacht ensign ceased.
