To transfer the engine's power to the vessel's propulsion with as little vibration and noise as possible, use the correct size of engine mounts.
Shore indicates the hardness of the damper. 55 is typically suitable for most engine installations, but there may be situations where a softer or harder mount is desired.
If necessary, speak to an engine expert about the appropriate hardness for your boat.
Calculate which mount to use:
When calculating which mount to use, consider where the engine's center of gravity is located. Often, 2 sets with different hardness are needed. Include the total weight of the installation including oil and water, and choose a slightly too soft mount rather than one that is too hard.
