The alloy used to manufacture the aluminum anode has a greater negative charge than zinc and a longer lifespan, meaning the anode is more active and for a longer period. In total, an aluminum anode produces approximately 70% more amp/hour over its lifetime than a corresponding traditional zinc anode. As a side benefit, you halve the weight and save some on the price. NOTE! There must be no physical connection between aluminum and zinc anodes, as the aluminum anode would then protect the zinc anode. Therefore, all anodes on, for example, sterndrives and outboard motors must be made of either aluminum or zinc. Many manufacturers today use aluminum anodes as standard on their new engines and boats, e.g., Mercruiser, Mercury, Yanmar, Selva, Torqeedo, Princess, and Sunseeker. 6 good reasons to choose aluminum anodes: - Cadmium-free: Contains no cadmium, which is a heavy metal harmful to the environment - Lasts longer: 10% longer lifespan than a zinc anode - Better protection: Provides better protection than a zinc anode - For saltwater and brackish water: Can be used in both saltwater and brackish water, unlike zinc anodes which can only be used in saltwater. - Lighter: 2.5 times lighter than zinc anodes - Aluminum boats: Perfect for protecting boats with aluminum hulls INFO: 1140080 is also available in an 1852 version - Art.
